Privacy Policy
Last Updated: September 9, 2025
YouTube Speed Controller – Per Channel ("YouTube Speed Controller", "we", "our", or "us"), provided by Ocrivia, is dedicated to protecting user privacy. This Privacy Policy details our data practices regarding our Chrome browser extension and our website at ytspeedperchannel.ocrivia.com.
1. Privacy-First Architecture: Zero Data Collection
We believe your browsing habits belong solely to you. The extension is built with a local-first privacy model:
- No Personal Data Collection: We do not track, collect, store, or transmit your name, email, IP address, browsing history, or videos watched.
- Local Preference Storage: All playback speeds assigned to specific YouTube creators are stored exclusively inside your local browser via Chrome's
chrome.storage.localorchrome.storage.syncAPI. No channel preferences are uploaded to external servers. - No Account Required: You can install and use the extension immediately without creating an account or providing personal credentials.
2. Chrome Extension Permissions
The extension requests the minimum possible permissions necessary to function:
- Host Permission for youtube.com: Required to detect the active channel and apply your desired playback rate to the HTML5 video player.
- Storage: Required to save your channel speed settings locally on your computer.
3. Payment & Billing Data
When you upgrade to the Premium Plan ($12/year), payments are handled securely by our Merchant of Record and payment processors (such as Creem / Lemon Squeezy).
Your credit card information and billing details are processed directly on the payment processor's secure, PCI-compliant infrastructure. Ocrivia does not store or process your sensitive payment card details.
4. Third-Party Services
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to third-party advertisers or data brokers. The extension interacts only with YouTube's public web interface to alter playback speed on your local client.
5. Compliance with Chrome Web Store Policies
This extension complies with the Google Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including the Single Purpose Policy and the Limited Use requirements.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any revisions will be published on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
